Baltimore, Maryland, Enoch Pratt Free Library, c1933

In 1886, the first and central branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library system opened on Mulberry Street. By the 1920s, the book collections had outgrown their home. Along with several townhouses, Old Central was demolished to make way for the new library building, which was completed in 1933. The project offered many employment opportunities for those out of work during the Great Depression.
