Lake Harriet has been an entertainment and recreation destination since it opened as a public park in the 1880’s. Rowboats were an immediate attraction, and by 1896 the bicycle craze inspired a bike path around the entire like. The lakeside pavilion pictured here hosted concerts and entertainments on its roof for 25 cents a seat.
