Located in the center of Monument Park, the Bunker Hill Monument was built in commemoration of the Battle of Bunker Hill, one of the first major battles of the American Revolutionary War. Erected between 1827 and 1843, the monument was one of the very first erected in the United States. Each year on June 17, residents gathered at the monument for Bunker Hill Day, marking the anniversary of the famed battle.
