Boston, Massachusetts, Fishermen Docked at the T-Wharf, c1905

When Bostons Broad Street was extended as Atlantic Avenue in 1868, its new path traversed the grounds of the previously expansive Long Wharf. The dock space that remained, known as T-wharf, became the bustling home to the citys fishing industry. Vessels crowded the deep water landing until the opening of the Fish Pier in 1917 offered easier unloading and a shorter trip to sea.
