Boston, Massachusetts, Newsies at the Boston Journal, c1909

The Boston Journal was one of the citys major daily newspapers from 1883 until 1917, when it was purchased by the publisher of the Boston Herald. The Journals offices stood among the citys other major newspapers on Bostons Newspaper Row, located between State and Water streets in the financial district. Newsboys would gather early to pick up the morning edition before spreading out on street corners across the city to sell it to residents.
