Cincinnati, Ohio, Government Square, c1903

Looking west on Fifth Street from Main at the turn of the 20th century, one would gaze upon the U.S. Custom House and Post Office towering over Government Square. Built in the French Renaissance style in 1885, the building also served as a meeting place for various district, circuit and appeals courts until it was demolished in 1936.
