Cincinnati, Ohio, On the Lake in Chester Park, c1910

Originally a horse racing club, Chester Park was taken over by the Cincinnati Street Railway Company in 1895 and subsequently converted into an amusement park. Drawing favorable comparisons to Coney Island, the park was reborn with rides, a velodrome, an opera house, and a newly excavated lake for swimming and boating.
