Connecticut, New Haven City Hall, c1907

Built in 1861 and opening the following year, Daniel Austins City Hall building became an awe-inspiring addition to the New Haven Green, which had since colonial times been home to a succession of state buildings. City leaders soon decided that the building should also house a city court, and the Courthouse, designed by David Russell Brown, was added to the Gothic Revival complex a decade later.
