Denver, Colorado, In the Shade of the Colonnade, c1919

The Colonnade of Civic Benefactors was erected along with the Greek Theater in 1919, nine years after the construction of the first building in Civic Center Park, the Carnegie Library. The library launched a movement to dedicate the park to culture and learning. Sitting in the shade of the colonnade, the gold dome of the Capitol could be seen towering in the distance.
