Famed landscape architect George Kessler designed an intricate system of public parks and winding boulevards that made the hilly and muddy-river-bluffed Kansas City famous for its beauty. Designed during the last decade of the 19th century, the most famous boulevard, the Paseo, was created incorporating the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
