Prior to the 1939 opening of Los Angeles� Union Station, the city�s competing overland passenger services each utilized their own stations. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway�s terminal was known as La Grande Station, and the distinctive Moorish dome capping its arrival hall became a welcome landmark for transplants disembarking at their new home.
