Luna Park was the world's very first amusement park chain, started by Frederick Ingersoll in Pittsburgh in 1905. Within 25 years, he built Luna Parks around the world; the remnants of several of which remain today in Mexico City, Australia and Athens. Despite the widespread love of the parks, their massive costs drove Ingersoll to bankruptcy and many of the famous parks were sold to his competitors.
