Milwaukee, Wisconsin, East Water Street, c1925

One of downtown Milwaukees main thoroughfares, East Water Street was the site of the citys original building, a cabin belonging to the first white settler, Henry Vieux, and later to Milwaukee founder Solomon Juneau. It was that small homestead that led to the development of Water Street as a bustling center of commerce, accelerated by its proximity to the Milwaukee River.
