Niagara Falls, New York, Gathering at Prospect Point, c1903

When Frederick Law Olmsted designed Prospect Point, he intended the unique view of the natural wonder of the Falls to attract masses to the park. It became a popular destination to take in the rushing rapids of the Upper Niagara River as it plunged over the American Falls. In 1903, Scottish Evangelist Dr. Alexander Dowie chose it as a gathering place for one of his cross-country programs en route to New York City.
