Considered America�s oldest state park, the park at Niagara Falls was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted as a place where �the masses could be renewed.� His emphasis on awe-inspiring natural beauty was exemplified in Prospect Point Park, a popular overhang from which to observe the Falls. The Point hosted visitors until 1954, when an estimated 185,000 tons of rock dropped 400 feet to the river below.
