Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, A Grant Street Sidewalk, c1917

The Pittsburgh Brewing Companys popular beer was sold in small 20-ounce bottles, and packed in wooden crates for delivery. At its peak, Pittsburgh was the third-largest brewery in the country. Just a few years later it would survive the Prohibition Era by selling ice cream, sodas, and 1-to-2 percent alcohol near beer.
