Portland, Oregon, Delivery Wagons, c1911

Portlands Front Street Market District was teeming with horse-drawn wagon traffic in the early 1900s. With the automobile was yet to dominate the streets of the city, many stores offered home delivery of their various goods. In 1915, the only Ford manufacturing plant in Oregon opened in Portland, hastening the overall transition from horses to cars.
