Located in Rochester�s Midtown District, commerce on East Main Street grew along with the city, and the area eventually emerged as one of the region�s most important shopping districts. In the early 1900s, Midtown was home to a variety of large department stores, including Sibley�s and McCurdy�s, which, like others taking advantage of Rochester�s rapid expansion, brought modern cosmopolitan goods and services to the bustling downtown core.
