Savannah, Georgia, Christ Episcopal Church, c1934

Known as the Mother Church of Georgia, Christ Episcopal Church was founded in 1733 as a mission of the Church of England. The church�s first building was dedicated in 1750, the same year that a black woman was baptized in the church, which is believed to have been the first baptism of a black person in Savannah. The church�s third and current home was consecrated in 1840.
